The Practice’s strength in this area lies conversely in the fact that we are not a pure conservation practice. Guided by ICOMOS principles we recognise that successful conservation calls for an understanding of what is being conserved, identification of the valuable ingredients that need respecting most, and the priorities, when some measure of compromise is unavoidable.
Traditionally around 40% of our work is refurbishment and the majority of these projects include listed buildings. A sympathetic mix of old and new is characteristic of our work and our portfolio demonstrates how listed buildings can be successfully adapted for a role in the 21st Century.
