Godmersham Barn, a Grade 1 listed building with parts dating back to the fifteenth century, suffered badly in the 1989 hurricane and its conversion to residential use involved extensive work on the frame. A bat loft had to be built into the building for the resident bats as they are now a protected species. An important feature is the sensitive landscaping which protects the character of the barn.
