Prendergast School is housed in an imposing Edwardian building on the crown of Hilly Fields, a large, open, public space between Brockley and Lewisham in South London. It enjoys an enviable reputation for its music teaching but this was, hitherto, hampered by facilities which were far from ideal. In 2002 Lee Evans Partnership were selected, through a limited competition, to develop a design for a new music department in a
‘stand-alone’ building within the curtilage of the school site.
