‘The Spitfire’ public house was built in advance of the main shopping area and sets the design strategy for the rest of the square. Using traditional forms and materials the pub is totally modern in concept and detail including a prominent corner feature reminiscent of an airfield control tower, which marks the entrance to the town centre.
