The scheme is orientated to maximise solar benefits and solar collectors convert direct and diffused solar radiation into heat providing more than 60% of the total energy for both the hot water and underfloor heating systems. The dwellings also have heat recovery ventilation systems. Low water usage white goods are used and soakaways reduce the amount of water put back into the waste system. 5 terraced 3-bedroom dwellings have since been built based on this prototype.
