Edward Flores Acuna

  • Studios: Architecture
  • Position: Part II Architectural Assistant
  • Qualifications: BA(Hons) Architecture

Edward completed his BA(Hons) in Architecture in 2019 at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, after which he took a year out and founded R(una), a freelancing initiative with the objective of producing environmentally sustainable and bespoke designs in the diverse bio-climatic environments of Peru, his home country. This included a church in the rural Andes explicitly designed to suit the dry climate whilst focusing on the spiritual experience of the user.

In 2020, after his year out, he returned to Canterbury to advance in his architectural career by undertaking the Master of Architecture course at UCA. Being an avid observer of the way cities and communities form, his dissertation focused on “Housing as a Process”, with his final thesis project “Cultural Resilience in a Gentrified City: The Latin Elephant in the Room” explored the effects of gentrification in the Latin American community of Elephant and Castle and for which was awarded a studio award for “Best Conceptual Strategy”.

Edward is an eager learner and passionate about connecting with people. He strives for growth and applies this in his personal and work life, and in his spare time, he actively loves to spark his creativity through music, art and writing. He is an advocate for creating spaces that encourage people to feel comfortable and included, something he hopes to learn more about from his experience at Lee Evans.
