The Chalk Yard Pub & Hotel, Ebbsfleet

  • Studios: Architecture | Planning
  • Client: Shepherd Neame Ltd
  • Location: Ebbsfleet Garden City

Lee Evans Partnership are the appointed architect for a new public house with restaurant, function space, and boutique hotel facilities for prestigious Kentish brewer, Shepherd Neame Ltd.

The site, located strategically on ‘Fastrack’ – a key transport route – will place the development within the heart of the emerging Ebbsfleet Garden City, and is sure to be popular with residents and visitors alike.

The scheme will provide extensive bar and restaurant facilities catering for 150 covers, together with flexible function space, and external terraced seating and garden.  Above, accommodation will comprise of staff apartment space, together with 17 boutique hotel rooms.  Externally, car parking is provided, incorporating electric charging points.

The distinctive roof form draws influence from the original industrial buildings which would have sat within the quarry, together with the quarry edge itself.

The grey/buff tonal brickwork is reflective of the quarry walls. In contrast to the brickwork, key details to the building will be finished with Corten Steel detailing to provide a strong connection with the sites industrial past.

The scheme received planning permission in December 2019, and is currently scheduled for completion and opening in July 2021.
