Spring Lane Campus shortlisted for the South East Public Sector RICS Awards

We are really proud that our Spring Lane Campus has been shortlisted for the South East Public Sector Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Awards!

The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. They recognise outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved, this is a huge achievement for this successful project, and reflects the high standards and excellent execution throughout the process

EKC Group‘s Spring Lane Campus provides horticulture and animal welfare facilities in a cutting edge new building. The new facilities provide modern, comfortable learning accommodation, together with larger open spaces for learning and student congregation.

LEP have a great track record of cutting-edge environmentally conscious projects, and it is wonderful this has received the recognition it deserves.

Our aim was to enhance the students’ environment and experience by improving teaching spaces, increasing the potential for social interaction, and to enhance wellbeing by improving connections between different parts of the site and increasing biodiversity.

Initial feedback from students and staff has been excellent, and we’re excited to check back-in with the client in the future to understand the effectiveness of our design.

Adopting a ‘fabric first’ approach, the new Spring Lane campus buildings are designed with sustainability in mind: sustainable building materials have been specified, and natural ventilation and day lighting will be used to their maximum. Additionally, green roofs provide biodiversity and natural insulation to the new buildings, reducing heating needs in the winter and assisting with cooling in the summer. The primary focus of the design concentrates on creating comfortable and durable teaching spaces, with a sinuous connection between external and internal spaces, creating a link between theory and practice.
