Hope Street URC Centre

  • Studios: Architecture
  • Client: The United Reformed Church
  • Location: Sheerness, Kent
  • Completed: 2007

Major restoration, and a sensitive extension to an existing church to enable community use.

A striking translucent façade provides a new public entrance, carefully lit to create an inviting beacon to the local community.

A new foyer, café and drop-in area are provided at ground floor, with the local Citizen’s Advice Bureau and UK On-Line Centre occupying other areas.

A new church hall retains worship space, whilst also providing facilities for community groups for drama, art, sporting activities, amongst other uses. Further offices, meeting and group spaces are available at first floor.

Awards: Kent Design Awards 2007 – Special Award Winner
