Architect with Heritage/Reuse Interest – Canterbury Based

Full time (Flexible working arrangements available)

Are you a qualified architect with experience or a keen interest in conservation, heritage and reuse? Our Kent studio is seeking a passionate team member to join our established and respected Heritage team.

Who are we?

Lee Evans Partnership LLP (LEP) is a reputable, forward-looking and progressive architectural and town planning consultancy, primarily working across London and the south-east of England. Our award-winning team work across a large variety of sectors of the construction industry, ensuring project variety, with no two days the same.

Our heritage team members are highly experienced and enthusiastic about what they do. They deal with a wide variety of conservation and re-use schemes, and are seeking a new team member to help deliver projects.

Who are you?

We looking for someone who can display the following qualities:

  • Ability to manage time – Do you manage your time well and efficiently, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously?
  • Passion for heritage and conservation – Do you embrace the challenge of working on old buildings, with a focus on conservation?
  • Knowledgeable and able to give sound advice – Can you effectively communicate with clients and contractors to provide sound architectural and heritage advice?
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role – Are you comfortable working closely with clients, and enjoy developing working relationships?

The Role:

The role will involve, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Providing sound and knowledgeable advice to clients to help develop project briefs and throughout the life of a project
  • Preparing and presenting ideas and design proposals
  • Producing detailed drawings, with attention to detail being key for heritage architecture
  • Attending site visits and chairing site meetings
  • Preparing fee quotations, reports, presentations and specifications
  • Preparing planning applications and Listing Building Consent applications, and advising on the preparation of DAC applications, and applications for specialist organisations
  • Advising on grant application processes
  • Tender preparation and analysis
  • Leading and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Providing sound heritage advice to other in-house teams

Skills & Qualifications:

We’re seeking architects who have experience in, or a quantifiable interest in, heritage and conservation architecture. Ideal candidates will hold the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experienced, qualified Architect holding RIBA and ARB memberships
  • Proven experience of working on heritage/conservation projects
  • Registered RIBA Conservation Architect, or equivalent, (or working towards) (desirable, but not essential)
  • Proficient in the following programmes:
    • AutoCAD (essential)
    • Revit (desirable)
    • Adobe creative suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator
    • NBS Chorus
  • Knowledge and experience of contract administration
  • Knowledge and experience of grant application processes (desirable, but not essential)
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior members of staff
  • Knowledge of construction health and safety (designers’ duties under CDM2015)
  • Use of own transport will be essential to undertake site visits
  • Knowledge of experience UK Building Regulations

Remuneration & Benefits:

Salary will be based upon experience. As a guide, the following salary bracket will be available:

Heritage Architect: up to £45,000(depending on experience and skill-base)

Revit Technologist/Architect – London or Canterbury Based

Full time (Flexible working arrangements available)

Our award-winning team work across a large variety of sectors of the construction industry, ensuring project variety, with no two days the same.

We have two studios: Canterbury and London. This role offers flexibility to be either Canterbury or London based, with the benefit of remote and flexible working options available.

We’re looking for someone who can display the following qualities:

  • Eye for detail – Do you have a good eye for design and technical detailing?
  • Eager to push boundaries – Are you keen to work with us to explore other areas of technological design innovation?
  • Ability to manage time – Do you manage your time well and efficiently, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously?
  • Skilled in Revit – Can you deliver high quality BIM modelling using Revit, with a full understanding of the programme?

The Role:

The role will involve, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Using Revit to produce high quality BIM models
  • Creating renders for presentation purposes using Revit and other visual programmes
  • Working alongside project leaders to develop designs and deliver construction stage information
  • Working alongside our design and IT teams to explore the application of VR technology, and other innovative technical design options for the future
  • Attending project meetings when required
  • Preparing reports and presentations
  • Leading and mentoring junior members of staff when required
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and contractors, and providing sound technical advice when required

Skills & Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a Revit Technologist or Architect looking to progress their career in a forward-thinking and fast-paced team. Ideal candidates will hold the following skills and qualifications:

  • Revit technologist or architectural designer, with at least 1-year relevant experience in practice
  • A portfolio of work showing a thorough understanding of UK building standards
  • Proven and strong Revit and AutoCAD skills
  • Experience of producing construction-stage information
  • Experience of working in the education sector (desirable, but not essential)
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).
  • Knowledge of Lumion, NScape, Navisworks and Dynamo (desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience of, or interest in, VR technology and its application in architecture
  • Knowledge of construction health and safety (designers’ duties under CDM2015)

Part II Architectural Assistants or Graduate Architectural Technicians

The Role:

The role will involve, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting in the development of project reports and presentations
  • Project-related information management and document control
  • Graphical assistance using Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Rendering visuals through Revit/Lumion
  • Conducting site research and creating site analysis diagrams
  • 3D modelling and 3D printing

Skills & Qualifications:

We are seeking applications from those interested in beginning a career in the field of architecture. Applicants for this role should ideally hold the following:

  • Ideally candidates will hold RIBA Part II or be a recent architectural technology graduate holding basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Revit, AutoCAD and Lumion, although some training can be offered
  • An interest in a career in architecture and design
  • Good eye for visual detail
  • Ability to quickly learn software and eager to learn new skills
  • Good organisational skills and able to manage own time effectively
  • Ability to work in a team and under own initiative

Remuneration & Benefits:

A competitive salary will be offered, based upon experience.
Routes of progression and further training maybe available to the right candidates, dependent upon performance.
